Tree cover and fringe reception.

Gelorup is the semi-rural belt between Bunbury and the coast, full of larger blocks set among mature tuart, peppermint and marri. Those trees are part of the appeal and part of the reception problem: leaf cover, especially when wet, absorbs and scatters the digital signal, and homes tucked into the bush can sit in a noticeably weaker fringe pocket than a clear block a street away. This is the most reception-sensitive part of our service area, and a shelf antenna from a hardware store rarely cuts it.

High-gain antennas, aimed and amplified.

The fix for a Gelorup fringe block is a proper high-gain phased-array or long Yagi antenna, carefully aimed at the Mount Lennard transmitter, usually paired with a quality masthead amplifier sized to lift the signal without overloading the tuner. Mounting height matters too; getting the antenna above the immediate tree line can be the difference between a clean picture and constant pixelation. We meter the signal at several heights before we settle the install.

Worked example.

A recent Gelorup acreage home: surrounded by tall marri, picture fine in summer and unwatchable when the canopy was wet.
